If you are like most brides out there, losing a few pounds (or more) is definitely something you want to do so you can fit in that amazing dress of yours and feel confident being the center of attention around your friends and family. Diet and exercise are a great combination to losing weight, but if you are eager to lose weight quickly or want to truly be healthy then a cleanse/detox plan is the way to go. There are a lot of detox diets out there, but no matter which you choose make sure that you are taking the time to prepare your body to detox. Wherever we live in the world, our bodies are full of toxins and chemicals that are actually making us fatter because they don’t allow our metabolism to work correctly. Whether they come from the pesticides on fruits and veggies, hormones from eating animal products, pre-prepared foods, using cleaning products, or just simply breathing the outside and inside air, we all are essentially ‘full of it’. Where do we store all of this awesomeness? In our fat cells of course…the very thing we want to get rid of. So if you were to just go straight into a detox, your body will release those toxins right back into your blood stream, liver and colon. Hence, causing you more health damage than good.
The best approach is to start eating very healthy, organic (whenever possible) foods to start proper elimination of the toxins. I am currently doing a detox through a book called The Fast Track to Detox, by Ann Louise Gittleman. With her plan, you will do a 7-day prequel to get your body (liver & colon) ready, a 1-day fast to eliminate those yucky toxins, and a 3-day sequel to ‘seal the deal’ on the results you just made. I’m on day 5 of the 11-day plan and have lost over 3 pounds. What bride doesn’t mind losing 3 pounds in 5 days?! Now, I will be honest and tell you that the first few days are a bit tough. My body yelled at me several times to “just eat a cracker!”. I felt the withdrawl of starchy carbs. It was tempting to cheat, but I know that I have to stay strong so that I can completely detox. What I love about this cleanse is that you can use the recipes the author provides in your everyday life because they taste good. So you never have to become ‘full’ of chemicals & toxins again.
There is so much more I could go into about this particular cleanse, but the point I want to make to bride’s or anyone out there looking to lose weight or even just get your body healthy, is to start with a proper detox plan. This can be incorporated with your exercise program for even greater weight loss benefits. Be sure to pick a time when you don’t have a shower, bachelorette party, or big event to attend as I wouldn’t want you to not 100% enjoy those events.
If you choose to do cleanse, I’d love to hear how it goes. I know you can do it!!
Best of Luck!
