Enchanted Forest Wedding at The Adolphus

Lissy and Leon started dating when she moved back to Dallas after grad school, but they really met years before that. “We actually first met when we carpooled together for a year in elementary school.” Lissy says, “But neither of us remembers!”

Lissy studies Italian history, so when Leon surprised her with an Italian-themed date complete with a gondola ride, she was all in! Little did she know, Leon had set up the perfect proposal. Afterward, Leon arranged to meet with both of their families for an Italian dinner to celebrate.

When it was time to start planning their wedding, Lissy and Leon were inspired by the old world charm of the Adolphus Hotel, and knew they wanted to make the beautifully-painted ballroom into their own “secret garden.” Lissy loves flowers, and Freesia helped her transform the room with vibrant colors and textures in shades of pink and coral, turning the space into their enchanted forest dream.

Stamped Paper Co created the couple’s custom invitations, menus, and programs that set the tone for the evening. Lissy looked beautiful in a Reem Acra gown from Warren Barron, and hair and makeup with her and all her girls by Anastasia Stratton.

Seeing Leon during the Bedecken ceremony was one of Lissy’s favorite moments of the day. “I was so excited to see him and felt like my heart was going to burst.” They walked down the aisle with Gyros String Quartet playing in the background. As part of Jewish wedding tradition Lissy circled Leon seven times. That was the moment that made it all feel real. “Afterwards, Leon and I stepped under our beautiful chuppah. We were surrounded by our parents and siblings who have always loved and supported us, and we both felt so incredibly lucky and excited.”

The reception was romantically lit with taper candles by Eleven Embers, and enchanted lighting by Beyond. Chairs and the stage facade were provided by Bella Acento, and linens by BBJ. Thanks to Jordan Kahn Orchestra, the night went perfectly, “I loved getting to dance with Leon and all our friends and family- you could feel the joy and love in the room all night and it was the most magical feeling.” Every moment was captured by photographer Shannon Skloss, and videographers of Soulbox.

To complement the romantic and warm elements of Lissy and Leon’s wedding, Frosted Art created a stunning cake with touches of gold and rose gold, along with intricate floral details that came from their wedding invitations. Italian gelato was also provided from Paciugo.

We asked Lissy if she had any advice for other brides, and she shared some golden advice from her sister-in-law. “She told us to be in the moment and try to stick together as much as possible, so that when you look back on the wedding, you share the same experiences and memories of the night.” This is so true! The Creative Touch Events team could not have been more honored to be part of such a sweet and beautiful couple’s new journey together.

Shalom and Mazel tov to Lissy and Leon for a lifetime of happiness!

Rustic Elegant Wedding at The Venue at Waterstone

Amy met Ian on Match.com, after some friends encouraged her to sign up. They were both convinced it was a waste of time, until they found each other in January 2016. They were married two years later!

When Ian proposed, he took Amy to her best friend’s painting studio. Behind her blank canvas was a hand-painted sign that said “Will You Marry Me?” Amy said that even though she had a hunch he was going to propose, it was so special to her, especially to have her best friend there for such an important occasion.

Then the two were ready to start planning their dream wedding! Amy knew she wanted a rustic theme that would combine her love of horses and the outdoors with Ian’s work as a police officer. After meeting with vendors and finding her perfect Madison James dress, the theme evolved into “Rustic Elegance.” The Venue at Waterstone was the perfect location.

The color navy blue was a main theme throughout the wedding, complemented by stunning floral from Freesia in shades of purple, green, and blush. Sable and Gray created the perfect invitations to set the tone for the evening.

One of Amy’s favorite parts of the day was getting ready with her best friends, and the amazing hair and makeup artist, Anita Brown, from Elan Makeup. Amy loved having her two oldest friends as bridesmaids, and their daughters as flower girls.

Brown-Eyed Girls Acapella Quartet provided beautiful prelude music for the ceremony. Le Force Entertainment kept the party going with Amy and Ian’s favorite songs for the reception, as well as lighting to pinpoint their tables and accent the room.  Valentina Vladi Photography captured the night perfectly.

Tastefully Yours catered the dinner, and Amy and Ian had a beautiful cake from Delicious Cakes. Instead of a groom’s cake, they had a donut bar! (We love this idea!)

Family is important to Amy and Ian, so having her Uncle Bob perform the wedding ceremony was meaningful to both of them. Another priceless family moment Amy recalled was her brother’s toast: “My brother’s toast made my day…maybe even my year…Everyone in the room that has been a part of my life since I was a child remembered the stories he told and was laughing hysterically.”

In reflecting on her wedding, Amy has some advice for future brides: “Everything will work out and it will be fine, don’t stress. It’s just one day!” After all, she said, “The best part of being married is being able to start a life with someone I love.” We wish Amy and Ian all the best in their life together!

Congratulations to the happy couple!

Natural Wedding at Stonebridge Ranch Country Club

After meeting at Texas A&M University, Mackenzie and Blaine dated for three years before Blaine knew he wanted to propose. Mackenzie remembers the day like it was yesterday! She shares with us that Blaine took to bending knee just before the opening game for the 2015 Aggie football season at Gerald D. Hines Waterwall Park in Houston and asked for her hand in marriage.

The two never had an actual theme but, we like to think that their choices of a simple color pallet and all white flowers and greenery by Lizzie Bee’s Flower Shoppe gave their wedding a natural and classic feel. Everything was absolutely gorgeous!

Our bride, Mackenzie, looked absolutely stunning as she made her way down the aisle in a one of a kind Catherine Deane dress from BHLDN. Standing at the altar by her side were her beautiful bridesmaids in flowing tan dresses by Amsale from Bella Bridesmaids. All of the ladies looked their best with the help of The Styling Stewardess hair and makeup team.

dallas_wedding_planner_0405

dallas_wedding_planner_0404

As we always say no wedding would be complete without cake! The Sweet Spot Bakery created both the wedding cake and the groom’s cake; which were both so delicious. Everyone’s sweet tooth was sure to be satisfied as the couple even had a candy bar.

dallas_wedding_planner_0406 dallas_wedding_planner_0407

Mackenzie and Blaine both agree their favorite part about being married thus far is living with their best friend. Mackenzie even shares a little advice for our brides to be, “Don’t stress out so much about all the little details. I’m such a planner and details mattered to me so much when I was planning. But on the big day, I just didn’t care about those little things anymore and I bet most people didn’t even notice the details. Look at the big picture and just enjoy the day because it goes by so fast!”

Organic Wedding at The Dallas Arboretum

Love wins again! Jeff and Joe met a little over seven years ago via the web on Yahoo Personals. After five years of dating, Joe realized he had found the one whom his soul loves and was ready to propose.

dallas_wedding_planner_0229

dallas_wedding_planner_0230Joe was creative and planned a scavenger hunt to the different places the two like to frequent as a couple; which even included dinner at Dragonfly of Hotel ZaZa. The final clue led the two back to their home for the evening were Joe had champagne, cake, flowers, and the ring ready to ask for Jeff’s hand in marriage.

dallas_wedding_planner_0231

Of course Jeff said ‘Yes!’ and from there they took time to enjoy their engagement for a bit and then started planning their amazing wedding. Guests’ were invited with beautiful invitations by The American Wedding to join Jeff and Joe for their ceremony in the Lay Family Garden and reception in The Alexander Camp House at The Dallas Arboretum.

dallas_wedding_planner_0232

Jeff wore a handsome fitting suit from Suit Supply; while Joe complimented him in a Joseph Abboud suit from The Men’s Warehouse.

dallas_wedding_planner_0233

dallas_wedding_planner_0234

The two looked absolutely dapper as they exchanged vows framed by a beautifully bright arch created by our sister company Freesia; whom was also in charge of all of the other floral decor that complimented the garden and reception area.

dallas_wedding_planner_0235

dallas_wedding_planner_0236

These amazing details of floral added the color and texture of for the couple’s vision of bright, elegant, masculine, and organic along with the natural colored linens by BBJ Linen. They wanted their wedding day to be a complete representation of who they are by tying in their Hispanic cultures with fun textures of lotus pods, driftwood, succulents along with bright hues of reds, oranges, purples, greens and bronze-copper accents.

dallas_wedding_planner_0240

The couple tells us that a special moment of the wedding was, “Walking down the aisle hand-in-hand with Joe’s son symbolized the family we’ve become. Also, having so many people there who loved and supported us was beyond touching…”

The music never stopped from the ceremony where Simply Music played soft tunes, to the cocktail reception were festive music was being played by Ernestos Music-Mariachi Band, and to the reception where DJ Adante of Simply Music spun out some dancing tunes.

dallas_wedding_planner_0245

All-the-while enjoying all of the fun guests’ also enjoyed amazing food and cocktails by Gil’s Catering.

dallas_wedding_planner_0246

No wedding would be complete without cake! The couple chose a simple, yet amazing cake by Delicious Cakes! To keep with the organic and masculine feel of their wedding, the cake was displayed on a wood slate and adorned with succulents.

dallas_wedding_planner_0247

Jeff and Joe both agree that their favorite moment of their wedding was that there was no rain! “Since we planned an outdoor ceremony and reception, we were quite nervous about the rain in the forecast. There was not a single raindrop, so we were able to celebrate as we had planned all along.”

dallas_wedding_planner_0248

In preparation for the rain the couple had to make a split decision on implementing a tent. To keep the outdoor feel they chose a clear tent without sides by Ducky Bob’s. We are so glad that Shannon Skloss Photography was there to catch all the amazing details for lasting memories and great stories later on. Shannon even notes that the clear tent reflected a lot of light from the lights that were strung by Simply Music which made for amazing photos.

dallas_wedding_planner_0249

Jeff and Joe say there favorite part about being married so far is, “The security of knowing that we’ll have someone with whom to share our lives and grow old.”

Happy Mother’s Day

I think George Washington said it best, “All that I am I owe to my mother.”

dallas_wedding_planner_0181

Being a mom is one of the toughest, yet most rewarding jobs ever! Everyday there is a mother working hard, making sacrifices, and paving the way for her child(ren). And may they forever be grateful.

dallas_wedding_planner_0182

Are hearts are filled with so much joy and love as we are taking orders for floral arrangements and writing out the sweet card messages from sons, daughters, and family; we wanted to take this time to express our gratitude.

dallas_wedding_planner_0183

On behalf of everyone here at Creative Touch Events and Freesia, we would love to wish all the amazing mothers everywhere a Happy Mother’s Day!! Don’t forget to show your mom how appreciated she is this Sunday by sending a one of kind Freesia arrangement.

Classic Wedding at The Hickory Street Annex

Rahul & Paige first laid eyes on each other at a bowling fundraiser. The fundraiser was one that Rahul himself had planned for the members of the Red Shoe Society, a group of young professionals who support the Ronald McDonald House Charities.

dallas_wedding_planner_0137

dallas_wedding_planner_0136

The two continued dating for two years before they were engaged. Rahul took time into planning a fairytale engagement for the bride-to-be! The couple enjoyed a trip to the Wine & Cheese Festival at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens and in a beautiful secluded garden Rahul proposed. Besides the proposal Rahul had a few other surprises in store for Paige.

dallas_wedding_planner_0140

Afterward they whisked away to dinner. Rahul had taken the precious time to make reservations at the restaurant where the two enjoyed their first date. Paige was in shock, to say the least, when they arrived. Waiting to help celebrate the couple’s new engagement were Rahul’s parents, Paige’s parents, her sister and even her best friend.

dallas_wedding_planner_0139

After picking simple yet beautiful stationary by Minted that matched the metallic, ivory and blue color pallet of the wedding the two were on their way to say “I Do”. Just a few days after the couple’s three year anniversary, Paige was walking down the aisle at the amazing Hickory Street Annex.

Paige wore a gorgeous wedding gown by Maggie Sottero which she had purchased at Lulu’s Bridal. Her maids complimented her in adorable knee lengthWindy City Dressin navy blue by Mod Cloth . Hair and makeup made them complete done by the talented Erin Blair Makeup & Hair Design.

dallas_wedding_planner_0145

The wedding party’s look was complimented with luscious bouquets and bouts created by our floral design company, Freesia, who designed all of the floral pieces for their wedding.  Paige loves flowers with small petals which we think is adorable and kept the small petal look throughout her design.

Besides being announced as Mr. and Mrs. Vora by for the first time; Paige’s favorite moment was “seeing all of our friends and family from across the world, gathered in one room, cheering with excitement for us.”

After the wedding ceremony guest were invited to dine on delicious cuisine by Vestals Catering & India Palace that reflected both of the happy couples’ cultures. Everyone also enjoyed awesome music being spun by DJ Jason Esquire.

To end the night the couple were whisked away by Sharon Limo. This marked the moment when they were finally settled and ready to officially begin this new chapter in their life.

dallas_wedding_planner_0158

When asked what is the best advice they can give other brides, Paige and Rahul both agree that “Be comfortable with saying “NO” when you don’t want to include something in your ceremony or reception”

dallas_wedding_planner_0163

It was a joy to work with this beautiful couple and help bring their two cultures together. Since being married, the two have been able to spend their free time planning travel for the next couple of years.

French Lingerie Shower at The Rosewood Mansion Hotel

This French inspired lingerie shower was so much fun to create. The details will have you swooning over a custom perfume bar, indulgent treats and authentic French champagne that the girls celebrated with all day and evening long! The bride to be, Laura, who is also a recent SMU grad, gathered with her sweet bridesmaids at the Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek for the celebratory evening.

Maureen, one of Laura’s bridesmaids, hosted the shower. She really wanted to go with a French inspired theme because Laura really loves all things French! Once the girls settled into their Mansion suite, a limo by Premier Transportation picked them up and took them to LaBichette, a fabulous blowout salon in Dallas. After they got their hair and makeup done, the girls left for Posh Nail Salon to get mani’s and pedi’s.

Once the girls were all pampered and gorgeous, they went back to their suite to get ready for a French dinner at Bijoux. Waiting at the restaurant, was a gorgeous table with custom made place cards, stunning linens by M&M Special Events and floral arrangements by Branching Out Floral and Event Design.

2014-10-07_0003 2014-10-07_0002 2014-10-07_0001

Branching Out did a fabulous job on all of the flowers! They used the bride’s favorite colors of pops of corals and yellows to give the aqua French inspired table the perfect touch.

After a delicious dinner at Bijoux, the limo took the girls to the hotel. Once they arrived, their suite was completely transformed into an “Ooh La La” French inspired lingerie shower, a complete surprise to Laura!

2014-10-07_0010

Upon arrival, the girls were greeted with a delicious and refreshing little gin, champagne and mint infusion we named, Sexy lil’ Nittie.

2014-10-07_0011

2014-10-07_0007

A custom perfume bar was created for the girls where they chose from a variety of scents and nodes, only to fashion a custom perfume that fit each of their personal tastes. Gorgeous pieces of lingerie on custom hangers were placed around the suite not only as part of the decor, but to also highlight the beauty of each piece gifted from the hostess, Maureen. It really added that sultry and elegant touch to this French inspired lingerie shower.

dallas_wedding_planner_0035

dallas_wedding_planner_0036

Laura and her bridesmaids had their choice of an array of indulgent and delectable sweet treats presented on vintage silver and crystal serving pieces with fine French champagne and coffee to sip on throughout the night.

Autumn Light Photography was there to capture all the beautiful elements of the Ooh La La lingerie shower. It’s always a pleasure to work with such a spectacular vendor team and we couldn’t be more appreciative of all their hard work.  Creating this French inspired lingerie shower for Laura and her girls was so much fun! We can’t wait to create another unique and elegant shower for our next bride-to-be.

Jewish Summer Wedding at Cityplace Events

After meeting through mutual friends, Grant and Rachel went on to date, and 2 1/2 years later of Rachel’s healthy cooking that Grant loved to eat, he popped the question!

2014-09-18_0001

Let me tell you, the proposal was so sweet! When Grant took Rachel on a boat on Lake Travis in Austin, he led her to a banner overlooking the lake where their families were standing holding a banner that read, “Marry Me?”.

On August 2, 2014, Grant and Rachel married at Cityplace Events in Dallas, Texas. This Dallas summer wedding was stunning. Rachel wore a gorgeous gown by Maggie Sottero and her bridesmaids wore dresses by Dessy. How beautiful are they?

2014-09-18_0009

Before the ceremony, Grant and Rachel did a private first look. AutumnLight Photography and Lynn Films captured this moment and every moment of the day beautifully.

2014-09-18_0002

After some fun pictures were taken and guests were starting to arrive, the couple, their families and closest friends made their way to the ketubah signing where some laughs and tears were shed. It was the perfect start to a beautiful ceremony that followed.

dallas_wedding_planner_0031

For the ceremony, a beautiful soft harp, played by Laurel McConkey, greeted guests and led the wedding party down the aisle. She was phenomenal.

After the ceremony, the guests where greeted with a delicious cocktail hour. They sipped on red and white wine, and crisp sparkling water with lime. They also ate yummy hors d’ oeuvres consisting of mini chicken burgers, mushroom risotto and beef potato wheels.

dallas_wedding_planner_0032

Once the cocktail hour ended, guests entered a gorgeous reception in the Cityplace Events Loft. Rachel really loved the look of a soft romantic color palette consisting of white, ivory, blush and gold. She really wanted something timeless and sophisticated. Magic Moments did a fabulous job with the floral and lighting to really capture her vision. What a stunning combination for a summer wedding!

2014-09-18_0008

2014-09-18_0011

For their first dance, Grant and Rachel chose “How Long Will I Love You” by Ellie Goulding. Such a beautiful song for a first dance.

2014-09-18_0014

After a delicious dinner, it was time to cut the cake! How gorgeous is that cake? Rachel wanted to surprise Grant with a special cake of his own.  A tried and true UT Longhorn fan and basketball lover, “Team Cohen” commenced. Panini Bakery truly did an amazing job on both of them.

dallas_wedding_planner_0033

2014-09-18_0015

After the cake was cut it was time for the Hora!  Guests spun Rachel and Grant all around and then everyone danced the night away to music from LimeLight the Band!

2014-09-18_0020

As the night came to an end, guests gathered outside to bid farewell to the sweet couple with fun ribbon wands. We love this unique alternative for a departure!

2014-09-18_0018

When asking Rachel about her favorite moment of their wedding day, she said, “It’s hard to just pick one moment that was my favorite. I loved seeing Grant for the first time, seeing our vision come to life and dancing with all our family and friends.”

2014-09-18_0019

Rachel, Grant and Family, it was an absolute pleasure working with you and getting to know over the past year.  You have such a special and close bond.  It was a privilege to be a small part of your big day. We couldn’t be happier for you and wish you a lifetime of happiness together!  Mazel tov!

Real Fall Wedding at the Fort Worth Water Gardens

After meeting in 9th grade in Plano, Texas, Britney and Kris couldn’t wait to tie the knot at their fall 2013 wedding at the Fort Worth Water Gardens. They chose their fall date because it was between their two birthdays, October 1st and October 11th, and it incorporated Britney’s favorite colors: orange, brown, and shades of red.

Davis_W_1390

When asked about their decision to do a ‘first look’, this is what Britney had to say:

“Our first look before the wedding was so incredibly special to me. I was so nervous walking down to see him, almost in tears. So much raw emotion and love! I felt like that moment all the planning and organizing I had done for the wedding was suddenly worth it, every last bit of it. It was the perfect moment.”

Davis_W_0789

With the threat of a thunderstorm brewing, Britney and Kris didn’t even consider moving their beautiful wedding inside.  Somehow, they just knew everything would work out.

Davis_W_0744 Davis_W_0962

The moment the ceremony finished and the guests were inside, it started pouring down rain! They say rain is good luck on your wedding day, which seems to be especially true for Britney and Kris.

 Davis_W_1725

After a close call with mother nature, the celebration was taken across the street to the Sheraton Hotel in Fort Worth. All of the details that Britney worked on really came together for the reception. From small details like the signs and the favors, to the intricate centerpieces, Britney and Kris’s reception was true to their style and no detail went unnoticed.

Davis_W_1730  Davis_W_1652

Even the cake from Crème de la Crème  tied in with their elegant fall theme!

Davis_W_1719

Davis_W_2843

With a grand exit in an antique car to drive them away, their wedding day drew to a close. What a fabulous day! We are so lucky to have been a part of the planning and the celebration.

Davis_W_3270

It seems as if married life is treating Britney and Kris quite well. She explains, “I don’t really feel that much has changed in our everyday life since we got married, but now it’s that feeling like “It’s just me and you, partners for life and in it together. It’s a great feeling!”

Event Planning Tips for 2014

As I reflect back on 2013, I can’t help but think ‘What a year it has been’.  I smile and recall on my many blessings… my crazy, amazing family and friends, my incredible husband, my deepening relationship with God, becoming pregnant after years of trying, my wonderful housekeeper (yes, I am SO grateful she came into our lives this year), all of my awesome clients, and the lessons I’ve learned that have helped me become the woman, wife, friend, planner I am today.   Some of these lessons I’ve learned over the years, but they have continued to present themselves as sort of a reminder to either keep doing what I’m doing or make a change and move on.

With my job, I have the privilege to impart many lessons on those around me to help make their lives easier.  Especially when it comes to the planning and execution of their very special occasion.  Here are a few lessons I hope that you will take with you into 2014.  Whether you’re a bride/groom-to-be, a parent, a member of the wedding party, a family member or friend…this is for you.

Hatley4   20131109-wedding-amykarp-1304

  • Hire the RIGHT vendors for your event.  Bringing in the right professionals will make your life and party so much better than you can even imagine.  Do your research and don’t just hire the first person you come across as you might regret it later.
  • Don’t wait until the last minute to solidify plans or make your DIY projects.  Planning and projects take time to do correctly.  Understand that each vendor has their own communication format and turnaround time to get things on their end accomplished.
  • Trust that everything will work out how it is supposed to…especially if you have been doing your due diligence and you have the right vendor team in place.
  • Be flexible when you can.  The more you try to control every little aspect, the more stress and upset you will give yourself and the less you will actually enjoy your event.
  • Plan, plan, plan, but be open to things changing that are out of your control at the last minute.  It will probably end up better than you planned.
  • Know your role within the event….this has two parts to it.
    1. If you’re the host of an event or a couple to be married…this is YOUR soiree. If there are certain aspects to your event that are really important to you, but are giving you concern because family or friends have constantly expressed their dislike in your choice…guess what?   This is YOUR day and you should be able to have what you want.  Now, you may need to make a few tweaks and adjustments to make it comfortable for your guests.  My philosophy is “Where there’s a will, there’s a way” and you should have your way on your day.
    2. If you’re the parent, friend or family member who is disagreeing with certain elements of the hosts/couple’s decisions.  Sorry, but this is NOT your soiree. Your intentions may be only to help and it’s okay to make suggestions.  By all means, if you see something that’s not right, say something.  But then, back off.  Don’t take it personal if they don’t listen.  This is THEIR day and they deserve to have the love and support of their family and friends.  Not the stress of constant nagging, bullying, or “I told you so’s”.  It’s ok not to agree with their every move.  Just put it in perspective…in the grand scheme of things, is it really that important?  Chances are, it’s not.  They are the ones that have to live with their decisions.  You don’t want to be the one thing they feel regret, sadness or even anger toward when they look back on their day.  They need your support during this time more than anything else.  Be proactive and help come up with creative solutions in order to give them what they want.  Or respect their decision if they do not want any help.

0440rt   Sansone-WisnerPhoto-RoomOnMain-1038-1

No one event or one client is the same as the next.  That’s one of the many things I love about what I do.  To help them achieve their dream wedding or event and ensure that the above tips are followed is so special.

chebrolugradparty-1167   emilybryant107

Hopefully, these are lessons you will carry with you when planning or helping to plan your next event.  Don’t be shy to share them with those around you for a much more seamless planning experience.  Have any more tips for successful planing, please feel free to leave a comment and share them!

Wishing you all the love, support, success and joy for 2014!
