Enchanted Forest Wedding at The Adolphus

Lissy and Leon started dating when she moved back to Dallas after grad school, but they really met years before that. “We actually first met when we carpooled together for a year in elementary school.” Lissy says, “But neither of us remembers!”

Lissy studies Italian history, so when Leon surprised her with an Italian-themed date complete with a gondola ride, she was all in! Little did she know, Leon had set up the perfect proposal. Afterward, Leon arranged to meet with both of their families for an Italian dinner to celebrate.

When it was time to start planning their wedding, Lissy and Leon were inspired by the old world charm of the Adolphus Hotel, and knew they wanted to make the beautifully-painted ballroom into their own “secret garden.” Lissy loves flowers, and Freesia helped her transform the room with vibrant colors and textures in shades of pink and coral, turning the space into their enchanted forest dream.

Stamped Paper Co created the couple’s custom invitations, menus, and programs that set the tone for the evening. Lissy looked beautiful in a Reem Acra gown from Warren Barron, and hair and makeup with her and all her girls by Anastasia Stratton.

Seeing Leon during the Bedecken ceremony was one of Lissy’s favorite moments of the day. “I was so excited to see him and felt like my heart was going to burst.” They walked down the aisle with Gyros String Quartet playing in the background. As part of Jewish wedding tradition Lissy circled Leon seven times. That was the moment that made it all feel real. “Afterwards, Leon and I stepped under our beautiful chuppah. We were surrounded by our parents and siblings who have always loved and supported us, and we both felt so incredibly lucky and excited.”

The reception was romantically lit with taper candles by Eleven Embers, and enchanted lighting by Beyond. Chairs and the stage facade were provided by Bella Acento, and linens by BBJ. Thanks to Jordan Kahn Orchestra, the night went perfectly, “I loved getting to dance with Leon and all our friends and family- you could feel the joy and love in the room all night and it was the most magical feeling.” Every moment was captured by photographer Shannon Skloss, and videographers of Soulbox.

To complement the romantic and warm elements of Lissy and Leon’s wedding, Frosted Art created a stunning cake with touches of gold and rose gold, along with intricate floral details that came from their wedding invitations. Italian gelato was also provided from Paciugo.

We asked Lissy if she had any advice for other brides, and she shared some golden advice from her sister-in-law. “She told us to be in the moment and try to stick together as much as possible, so that when you look back on the wedding, you share the same experiences and memories of the night.” This is so true! The Creative Touch Events team could not have been more honored to be part of such a sweet and beautiful couple’s new journey together.

Shalom and Mazel tov to Lissy and Leon for a lifetime of happiness!

Rustic Elegant Wedding at The Venue at Waterstone

Amy met Ian on Match.com, after some friends encouraged her to sign up. They were both convinced it was a waste of time, until they found each other in January 2016. They were married two years later!

When Ian proposed, he took Amy to her best friend’s painting studio. Behind her blank canvas was a hand-painted sign that said “Will You Marry Me?” Amy said that even though she had a hunch he was going to propose, it was so special to her, especially to have her best friend there for such an important occasion.

Then the two were ready to start planning their dream wedding! Amy knew she wanted a rustic theme that would combine her love of horses and the outdoors with Ian’s work as a police officer. After meeting with vendors and finding her perfect Madison James dress, the theme evolved into “Rustic Elegance.” The Venue at Waterstone was the perfect location.

The color navy blue was a main theme throughout the wedding, complemented by stunning floral from Freesia in shades of purple, green, and blush. Sable and Gray created the perfect invitations to set the tone for the evening.

One of Amy’s favorite parts of the day was getting ready with her best friends, and the amazing hair and makeup artist, Anita Brown, from Elan Makeup. Amy loved having her two oldest friends as bridesmaids, and their daughters as flower girls.

Brown-Eyed Girls Acapella Quartet provided beautiful prelude music for the ceremony. Le Force Entertainment kept the party going with Amy and Ian’s favorite songs for the reception, as well as lighting to pinpoint their tables and accent the room.  Valentina Vladi Photography captured the night perfectly.

Tastefully Yours catered the dinner, and Amy and Ian had a beautiful cake from Delicious Cakes. Instead of a groom’s cake, they had a donut bar! (We love this idea!)

Family is important to Amy and Ian, so having her Uncle Bob perform the wedding ceremony was meaningful to both of them. Another priceless family moment Amy recalled was her brother’s toast: “My brother’s toast made my day…maybe even my year…Everyone in the room that has been a part of my life since I was a child remembered the stories he told and was laughing hysterically.”

In reflecting on her wedding, Amy has some advice for future brides: “Everything will work out and it will be fine, don’t stress. It’s just one day!” After all, she said, “The best part of being married is being able to start a life with someone I love.” We wish Amy and Ian all the best in their life together!

Congratulations to the happy couple!

Maroon and Gold Wedding at Ashton Gardens Dallas

After locking eyes at a college function for an on campus organization at Texas A & M where both Ashlynn & Colton attended; they decided to officially meet a few months later. The two began dating and fell in love!

dallas_wedding_planner_0196 dallas_wedding_planner_0197

Finally on April 18, 2015 under the Famous Century Tree at Texas A & M Colton asked Ashlynn to be his wife! The proposal was everything she ever imagined.

dallas_wedding_planner_0198

Keeping the proposal a surprise was a challenge. Colton had to throw Ashlynn off of his trail of planning her dream proposal by telling her that her vision was cliché! All the while Colton was putting together plans for family and friends to be present as well as a photographer to capture such a special moment.

dallas_wedding_planner_0199

From there on these lovebirds were planning maroon & gold wedding! Adding a few blush tones helped to add a little contrast to their color pallet. Ashlynn loves glitter & gold as any girl would. And maroon is a favorite for both Ashlynn & Colton as it is part of their alma mater’s colors! They wanted the feel of their wedding to be romantic, full of light, and sparkle.

dallas_wedding_planner_0200 dallas_wedding_planner_0203

Ashlynn & Colton’s wedding invitations were recreated from a look Ashlynn had seen on Pinterest. Her vision was brought to life by Vista Print & Ann’s Bridal Bargains.

dallas_wedding_planner_0201

Ashlynn’s bridesmaids looked stunning in their beautiful gold sequin and maroon gowns from Etsy Shop, Fashion Streets as they walked down the aisle to the beautiful music played by Gyros String Quartet. Ashlynn followed soon after in her stunning gown by Pronovias from Marry Go Round Bridal of Houston.

 dallas_wedding_planner_0202dallas_wedding_planner_0210

The sweet couple exchanged vows in the chapel at Ashton Gardens-Dallas which created the perfect setting; the large windows in this space really helped reflect the light. The two were framed by a custom twinkling curly willow arch made by our sister company Freesia; who were also in charge of all of the floral and candles that extended the feeling of romance for these two on their wedding day. Ashlynn even gave us kudos, “Lauren did the most amazing job bringing our vision of sparkly and romantic to life.”

dallas_wedding_planner_0208 dallas_wedding_planner_0205

dallas_wedding_planner_0206

Thompson Pictures was there to videograph the couple as they exchanged their sweet vows of love that they wrote to each other. Ashlynn informs us this moment was her favorite of the entire evening. “I think they reflected our personalities perfectly and showed the kind of love we have for each other. I still tear up watching the video of them!” she tells us.

dallas_wedding_planner_0209 dallas_wedding_planner_0207

We absolutely loved the details of this wedding and are so happy Shannon Skloss Photography was there to capture the details and this gorgeous day all together.

dallas_wedding_planner_0211dallas_wedding_planner_0214

The reception couldn’t have been complete without the awesome tunes & lighting from Simply Music and cake from Delicious Cakes.

dallas_wedding_planner_0213

These two agree that their wedding wouldn’t have been anything they imagined if it wasn’t for their family, friends, and all of their loved ones. Seeing all of the people they loved gathered together to celebrate their love was simply amazing. Ashlynn’s brother married them, and her grandfather led them in communion. Colton’s family hadn’t seen each other in years, and they flew from all over to be with them.

dallas_wedding_planner_0212

“Seeing both of our families and everyone we love all in one place was incredibly humbling and emotional. That happens so rarely, and we were both so thankful to have all of that support“, says Ashlynn.

dallas_wedding_planner_0215

Since coming together as husband and wife and settling into their jobs; Colton a Human Resource Specialist & Ashlynn an ABA Program Manager & Behavior Therapist; their favorite part about being married is the commitment they made to each other and always being with their best friend!

dallas_wedding_planner_0216

While the couple admits they wouldn’t change much about their wedding day; Ashlynn does inform us that, “Throughout the planning process, I wish I would have not worried so much about pleasing everyone. Weddings are so full of traditions and expectation, and it’s really impossible to make everyone happy. Decide what you and your partner’s dreams are about your day and do your best.”

What great advice, Ashlynn! We hope you & Colton are doing your best being so happy together.

Jewish Fall Wedding at The W Hotel Dallas

It was love at first click! Daniel received encouragement from one of Emily’s cousins to send Emily a friend request on Facebook. The two began chatting away and the rest was history. They officially met on the campus of The University of Texas at Austin where they both attended college.
dallas_wedding_planner_0121

Five years later Daniel was ready to pop the question. He proposed at the dog park with the couple’s adorable Boxer, Cali. “It was the perfect spot since we love our dog so much!” says Emily!  Soon they were in wedding planning mode and selected the swanky W Hotel Dallas for their ceremony and reception.

Emily’s inspiration for their wedding was to keep it simple and classic. She stated, “I always imagined my bridesmaids wearing black since it is my favorite color to wear and thought that white and blush color flowers would pop well off of that.” Emily wore a gorgeous Tara Keely gown which she purchased from De Ma Fille in Ft. Worth and her maids picked their own gowns.

Setting the tone for the evening, the wedding party and couple made their entrance to live guitar music played by Nick DiGennaro. Emily and Daniel exchanged their vows underneath a beautiful birch chuppah designed by Fleurs de France who also created the rest of the floral pieces for their wedding. This moment was a favorite for both Emily & David as they stood there with their Rabbi and parents.

During the wedding ceremony, Emily said she unexpectedly became very emotional with tears streaming down her face. The Rabbi read out loud to everyone the letters that the couple wrote to each other. Emily was under the impression that the he would only be using bits and pieces for his speech. Guests’ loved the letters and how accurate they were. Emily and Daniel even heard guests’ quoting exact lines from the letters later in the evening while mingling during the reception.

Summer Wedding at Hickory Street Annex

Jourdin & Chris’ summer wedding at Hickory Street Annex in Dallas, TX was one of so much happiness and love!  The journey to this amazing day began 4.5 years prior when the two met in class at Coppell High School.  Despite living long distance during majority of their relationship, they grew together in love.  Chris proposed on a hot summer day in the Katy Trail.  He then whisked his soon-to-be-bride off to a surprise engagement party where their family and friends eagerly awaited to celebrate their big news.

From the beginning wedding planning stages, Jourdin knew that she wanted keep things light by going with a gold and white color palette with touches of glam.  Keeping things pretty simple, everything took place at Hickory Street Annex.  The girls spent the day there leisurely getting ready with Maitee Miles doing their makeup and Abby Kugestadt doing their hair.  Her bridesmaids wore a variety of gold dresses.  Jourdin wore a Nicole Miller dress from Nordstom.  They all looked stunning!  The guys arrived later that afternoon and got dressed in a nearby office so they could just walk right over once it was time for pictures to begin.

Soon it was time for the couple’s first look.  Which proved to be Jourdin’s favorite part of the day as she says, “I’d been kind of nervous at the looming duty the bride has of being the center of attention, and I hadn’t seen him all day and was just antsy.  So the first look really put my nerves at ease.  Plus, it was so exciting to finally see him all dressed up!”

The wedding party had a blast taking pictures with Jennefer Wilson Photography and were soon able to relax and take in the beautiful wedding decor for a bit before the ceremony began.  During the wedding ceremony, sister and Matron of Honor, Kelsey, Best Man & best friend, Jesse, & awesome friend of the couple, Jordan, performed a beautiful song, “Forever Like That, Ben Rector“, to capture the couple’s feelings for one another.  Chris sealed the deal with kissing his bride and they became Mr. & Mrs. Chris Hendrix!

As guests moved downstairs for the cocktail reception, the ceremony was transformed into the par-taay area!  The ceremony backdrop created by Branching Out, was re-purposed for the cake back drop.  Cakes were made by Delicious Cakes and the pocket pies were made by Zenzero Bakery.

dallas_wedding_planner_0119

Guests were then transitioned back up stairs where they feasted their eyes on all the pretties made by Branch Out Floral and Event Design.  Jourdin wanted to contribute some decor herself, so she saved and painted all the gold bottles that held the florals.

After the first dance, guests enjoyed a delicious dinner by CN Catering and listened to entertaining toasts given by the couple’s closest family and friends.

Even though the wedding took place on a Sunday evening, you would never know it by the way everyone danced the night away with DJ Dilly mixing the beats.  It really was a fantastic time had by all!  DWeddings even got in on the action!  We were so honored to have been apart of the second McMinn family wedding.  Congratulations McMinn/Hendrix families!  You truly hold a special place in our hearts.

Kick Post-Wedding Blues to the Curb

200332146-001
Post-wedding blues is something that is found to be common amongst newlywed women and their mothers. These post wedding blues are said to last anywhere from several days to many months.

As wedding planners, we make it a priority to make sure that our bride’s are the happiest of brides on their big day and after researching the effects that post-wedding blues has on brides, we wanted to make it another priority to make sure that our bride’s and their happiness are taken care of after their big day is over.

Symptoms of post-wedding blues consist of:

  • Boredom & Sadness
  • Loneliness
  • Feeling Uncertain About Close Relationships
  • Struggling with Self-Identity
  • Feeling Purposeless
  • Extreme Exhaustion

We asked some of our past brides and their mothers if they had experienced any of these post-wedding blues symptoms and while a couple of them said they didn’t experience sadness after their wedding, a few others said they did.

Natalie who experienced 3 weeks up to a month of sadness said, “My thoughts were… ‘Uhhh what now?’ We had been planning for 13 months and then all of a sudden there were no more meetings, emails, planning or tastings. It was a bittersweet moment. The stress level went down, but the fun and excitement leading up to the wedding was gone.”

Mindy, a mother of one of our brides, said, “After Jourdin’s summer wedding, I was on summer break, so I found myself alone and lonely. I had planned everything except for post-wedding. It was so much fun to be surrounded by our daughter’s wonderful friends that we missed them all after the wedding. I felt sad and for a moment in time, purposeless; for months I had been busy with work and with planning, so every day was filled with purpose. When it was over and everyone had gone home, it was just me. I missed everyone and so many relationships are strengthened during those weeks, and in a moment, it is just over. That was one of the loneliest and quietest days I’ve known.”

While their post-wedding blues lasted for a period of time, other previous brides like, Tamra, felt an overwhelming sadness for a short time.

“I cried Sunday after the wedding. For 6 months of my life revolved around planning our wedding. The majority of my extended family and friends that I hardly see came in town from all over the US. And Sunday, after everyone went home, I sat down and cried my face off. I was so sad to see everyone leave because I hardly ever see them and now that the wedding was over, I was a little lost. So much planning. So much build up. And it was over just like that. It took a couple of days, but I got over it quickly,” said Tamra.

While it is totally normal & common to experience levels of post-wedding blues, there are also great & fun solutions to overcome them!

dallas_wedding_planner_0037

Natalie suggested continuing to stay busy. She coped with her post-wedding blues by crafting a lot with her mom and decorating her new home. ElizaBeth said she experienced these feelings and knew of multiple other women who felt the same way, but she dealt with it by looking forward to other weddings to attend.

“It’s all over so suddenly and then you go through a mournful period where you almost cannot believe it’s really over! After planning my own wedding and realizing how much work goes into it, I actually really enjoy admiring other people’s weddings because it reminds me of my own. So, now I just look forward to the nest wedding invitation!” ElizaBeth said.

View More: http://jenneferwilson.pass.us/jourdin--chris--wedding

In giving advice for mothers of brides coping, Mindy said, “I would say it’s important to have a definite plan for the days following the wedding. Make a plan with your girlfriends – a spa day or dinner and a movie; or best of all, go on a trip with your husband. It’s not a denial but rather a transition. Secondly, I would share an encouraging reminder that we have prayed for this day since that precious little girl/boy was born, so the days to follow are best spent remembering to be thankful. Acknowledge the bitter sweetness of the experience, but know that it is the beginning of a new and even deeper dimension of the relationship you have built over a lifetime.”

dallas_wedding_planner_0039

Rachel, another recent bride of ours, said, “As it gets further from the wedding and life starts to get busy again with other things you think less and less about the wedding. To move on, I talked to my mom about the wedding (the one person who loved to talk about it as much as me) and now I tell my friends who are getting engaged that I want to help with their planning.”

Rachel’s sweet mother, Lisa, said it best when she said, “There is life after a wedding and it is a full one.”

If you are a past bride experiencing post-wedding blues or you’re a soon-to-be bride looking to avoid them, focus on activities such as these for after your big day! ::

  • Give you and your husband some time after your honeymoon to wind down before jumping straight back into work. Reflect on the great experience you just had together.
  • Plan an evening with a few close friends and family to look at your wedding photos and video together. Sip on some wine and reminisce about all that happened on your special weekend.
  • Talk, talk, talk! Talk to your husband, close friends and family about what your feeling. Don’t keep it bottled up.
  • Plan a holiday party for your friends or co-workers!
  • Start a book club with girlfriends or just one day/night out of the week when you get together and catch up.
  • Plan some fun weekly date nights! They don’t have to be expensive. It could just be a night of your favorite show, pj’s, snuggles and pizza!
  • Journal your thoughts. Put it down on paper.
  • Encourage other newlywed women if they are experiencing post-wedding blues. Help a sister out and work through it together!
  • Get together with your wedding planner to talk about your wedding and all the behind the scenes things that took place that you didn’t even know about.  We don’t mind sharing after the big day and we want to see you again too. It’s a bittersweet day for us as well after spending so much time together and being apart of your lives. We want to see how good marriage looks on you. 🙂
  • Seek professional care :: If you are experiencing extreme depression and you feel these tips aren’t or haven’t worked, we encourage you to talk to a professional and get the help you need. It is nothing to be embarrassed about. You deserve to be happy!

We hoped this little blog post was helpful to all you sweet women. We wanted to bring awareness to the topic to let you know that you are not alone and that it is very common. If you have any questions, shoot us an email or comment below. We would love to talk and help you kick those post-wedding blues to the curb!

Jewish Summer Wedding at Cityplace Events

After meeting through mutual friends, Grant and Rachel went on to date, and 2 1/2 years later of Rachel’s healthy cooking that Grant loved to eat, he popped the question!

2014-09-18_0001

Let me tell you, the proposal was so sweet! When Grant took Rachel on a boat on Lake Travis in Austin, he led her to a banner overlooking the lake where their families were standing holding a banner that read, “Marry Me?”.

On August 2, 2014, Grant and Rachel married at Cityplace Events in Dallas, Texas. This Dallas summer wedding was stunning. Rachel wore a gorgeous gown by Maggie Sottero and her bridesmaids wore dresses by Dessy. How beautiful are they?

2014-09-18_0009

Before the ceremony, Grant and Rachel did a private first look. AutumnLight Photography and Lynn Films captured this moment and every moment of the day beautifully.

2014-09-18_0002

After some fun pictures were taken and guests were starting to arrive, the couple, their families and closest friends made their way to the ketubah signing where some laughs and tears were shed. It was the perfect start to a beautiful ceremony that followed.

dallas_wedding_planner_0031

For the ceremony, a beautiful soft harp, played by Laurel McConkey, greeted guests and led the wedding party down the aisle. She was phenomenal.

After the ceremony, the guests where greeted with a delicious cocktail hour. They sipped on red and white wine, and crisp sparkling water with lime. They also ate yummy hors d’ oeuvres consisting of mini chicken burgers, mushroom risotto and beef potato wheels.

dallas_wedding_planner_0032

Once the cocktail hour ended, guests entered a gorgeous reception in the Cityplace Events Loft. Rachel really loved the look of a soft romantic color palette consisting of white, ivory, blush and gold. She really wanted something timeless and sophisticated. Magic Moments did a fabulous job with the floral and lighting to really capture her vision. What a stunning combination for a summer wedding!

2014-09-18_0008

2014-09-18_0011

For their first dance, Grant and Rachel chose “How Long Will I Love You” by Ellie Goulding. Such a beautiful song for a first dance.

2014-09-18_0014

After a delicious dinner, it was time to cut the cake! How gorgeous is that cake? Rachel wanted to surprise Grant with a special cake of his own.  A tried and true UT Longhorn fan and basketball lover, “Team Cohen” commenced. Panini Bakery truly did an amazing job on both of them.

dallas_wedding_planner_0033

2014-09-18_0015

After the cake was cut it was time for the Hora!  Guests spun Rachel and Grant all around and then everyone danced the night away to music from LimeLight the Band!

2014-09-18_0020

As the night came to an end, guests gathered outside to bid farewell to the sweet couple with fun ribbon wands. We love this unique alternative for a departure!

2014-09-18_0018

When asking Rachel about her favorite moment of their wedding day, she said, “It’s hard to just pick one moment that was my favorite. I loved seeing Grant for the first time, seeing our vision come to life and dancing with all our family and friends.”

2014-09-18_0019

Rachel, Grant and Family, it was an absolute pleasure working with you and getting to know over the past year.  You have such a special and close bond.  It was a privilege to be a small part of your big day. We couldn’t be happier for you and wish you a lifetime of happiness together!  Mazel tov!
